Brussels, 26/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Praesidium of the European Convention on the Future of Europe is to meet on Wednesday afternoon in Brussels, under the chairmanship of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. It will essentially draw practical lessons from the first real plenary session of the Convention (see EUROPE of 23 March, pages 3 to 6), and prepare for the next plenary, scheduled for 15 and 16 April. As Chairman Giscard d'Estaing pointed out, after the very general debate on Thursday and Friday last the next plenary will be more structured around the question of the tasks of the European Union, and discussions will be held on the basis of a document to be finalised by the Praesidium.
