Brussels, 26/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Socialist group in the European Parliament, chaired by Enrique Baron, is organising a seminar at the Parliament on 4 April on reforming the European public service, which will be attended by the Vice-President of the Commission with responsibility for reform, Neil Kinnock.
The Socialist group has created a working group to focus on the issues, co-ordinated by Austrian Social Democrat Hannes Swoboda, who explained that MEPs supporting the aims of the Commission's reform proposals when the Commission calling for greater efficiency and greater mobility. Mr Swoboda stressed the need for Commission staff to prepare for EU enlargement, echoing the call he made in the debate on the European Commission's priorities for 2003 (see EUROPE of 23 March, p.14).
