Brussels, 22/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission decided not to pursue its proceedings on the Germany system fixing the price of books ("Sammelrevers"). Following the sending of a communication outlining the objections, last July, the German Association of Editors and Publishers, as well as the editors and publishers involved, submitted a declaration of a commitment, which the European Commission has found entirely satisfactory, with regard to the objections it had voiced. This commitment guarantees the freedom of cross-border sales at prices other than those fixed by the German system for books (via the internet for example). (EUROPE will be returning to this subject later)
