20/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - German government sources refused to comment on reports in several newspapers that Chancellor Schröder intended to withdraw the co-ordination of European policy from the Foreign Minister, but did confirm that discussions on this subject (centralisation of these dossiers at the Chancellery and a new Minister for European Affairs) will be needed if reform of the EU Council was to be achieved.
