BANK AUSTRIA has taken over the 62.59% stake held by Italian UNICREDIT in the Croatian bank, SPLITSKA BANKA, for the sum of EUR 94.4 million. The State agency for banking rehabilitation (DAB) will also sell to the Austrian bank its 25% stake in SPLITSKA BANKA, for the sum of EUR 37.7 million. Furthermore, UNICREDIT and ALLIANZ together hold 79.1% of the voting rights of ZABA - ZAGREBRACKA BANKA, the leading Croatian bank, after their acquisition offer that closed on 1 March. UNICREDIT and ALLIANZ already held 20%. The Croatian authority for competition had authorised this operation on condition that UNICREDIT sells its controlling stake in SPLITSKA BANKA.
