Warsaw, 06/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - EP President Pat Cox reaffirmed in Warsaw on Tuesday, at a joint meeting of the Committees on European Affairs of the Polish Sejm and Senate, his commitment to bring "50 Polish parliamentarians as observers to the European Parliament", as soon as the accession agreements have been signed. In addition, Cox warned that "in our detailed discussions we should not lose sight of the big picture", adding: "It is not in Poland's interest to unbundle the financial arrangements (proposed by the Commission: Ed.) and risk unbundling the timetable for enlargement, with all the negative consequences that would entail (…) The transition period is a two-way process (…) Convergence over time may even happen faster than has been foreseen".
