04/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Council's common position on the directive aimed at promoting the participation of citizens and NGOs in the decision-making process in the field of the environment was formally adopted, without debate. This came after the political agreement of 7 June 2001 on a text that will adapt the Community legislation to the first pillar of the International Convention of Aarhus.
