Colloquy on European penal area on 6 and 7 March

Brussels, 04/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Studies Institute at ULB is organising for 6 and 7 March in Brussels a colloquy on the theme of European criminal law. It is entitled "L'espace pénal European, bilan de la présidence belge et perspectives". Participants at the conference will include the Judges of the European Court of Justice and the International Court of Justice, senior European and Belgian officials, MEPs and university professors. It will be opened by the Belgian Justice Minister, Marc Verwilghen, and closed by European Commissioner Antonio Vitorino. On Wednesday, the conference will tackle questions of a general kind (debates during the Belgian Presidency, basic legal issues, enlargement prospects) and will take an interest in the actors of a Justice Europe (the role of the institutions, the matter of European Prosecutor, etc.).
