Loyola de Palacio calls for greater European co-ordination in European security energy stocks system

New York, 04/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a speech addressed to the World Economic Forum Energy on Friday, the Vice President of the Commission, Loyola de Palacio, pointed out that, "dependence on external oil supplies is an Achilles' heel" for the industrialised consumer economies. Ms de Palacio asserted that in this regard, "Security stocks held by consuming countries are critically important in this respect".
