Strasbourg, 04/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - Minister of the Interior and Spanish Vice Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, declared on Monday in Strasbourg in a press conference that the Spanish Presidency would try this week to get an official legal list of terrorist organisations adopted. The list, which was put together by the General Affairs Council (describing it as having value in its political principle), was approved by the Union on 27 December. Mr Rajoy said that both time and a proposal were still needed but the latter had not yet been put on the table.
Outlining the priorities of the Presidency in asylum and immigration issues, the Minister announced that one of the themes at the Informal Council at Santiago de Compostella on 13-14 February would be the adoption of an action plan against illegal immigration, but which stressed dialogue on the management of emigration flows with third and ASEM countries (particularly Morocco, the country with which talks have reached the most advanced stage). A meeting on this subject has been arranged for 4-5 April.
