27/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - The regulation adopted by the Commission on 20 December to extend the current ecopoints system (see EUROPE of 21 December, p.5) will prolong the scheme for one year from 1 January 2004 onwards. This extension can be renewed up to twice (until the end of 2005 or 2006) if necessary, on condition that the EU infrastructure charging system has not yet been set up.
