Aid for cross border cooperation in South-West

Brussels, 14/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday the European Commission approved a cross border cooperation programme for the south-west European cooperation area, which will be financed by the Interreg III Community initiative. This programme concerns all the territories of Spain and Portugal and the regions of Aquitaine, Midi-Pyrenees, Languedoc-Roussillion, Poitou-Charentes, Limousin and Auvergne, in France and Gibraltar. The main aims of the programme are to increase the level of integration in this area. To total amount available for this programme is EUR 110 million, of which some 66.2 million is financed by the EU (ERDF). The remaining EUR 43.8 million comes from national and regional budgets.
