20/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers has adopted without debate the regulation to extend until the end of 2001 the current fisheries protocol signed by the Community and Senegal (see EUROPE of 8 June, p.9). The current agreement covers tuna fishing (12 pole and line vessels, 41 seiners and 23 longliners) and pelagic fishing and trawlers (22 EU trawlers, 6 of which operating in the 12 mile zone with an overarching catch limit of 25,000 tonnes a year).
