Brussels, 20/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the planned acquisition by the Italian electricity company ENEL of its Spanish counterpart Viesgo SA (subsidiary of Endesa). The operators are active in different countries (Italy and Spain) so their activities will not have any geographical overlap and the Commission therefore had no objections to the arrival of a new competitor on the Spanish electricity market.
