Brussels, 14/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has initiated an investigation into several ad hoc measures granted to the Portuguese public broadcaster Radio Telivisao Portuguesa (RTP). The Commission indeed wonders whether the 83.6 million euro compensation granted by the Portuguese State to RTP for the costs of the obligation to provide a public service refundable between 1992 and 1998 is not excessive.
