Immediate Commission aid to Algeria will cover most urgent needs of flood victims

Brussels, 14/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The exact amount of humanitarian aid that the Commission has decided to grant immediately to the populations that have been hit by flooding in Algeria (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.14) amounts to EUR 758,000. This sum will be made available through emergency procedure under ECHO (European Community's Humanitarian Aid Office), and will finance the provision of temporary shelter, clothing and blankets, drinking water supplies and medical assistance in the...
