Brussels, 07/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission provided further proof that the attacks on 11 September against the United States have indeed had a negative impact on business confidence in the euro-zone. According to the figures published by the Commission, the business climate indicator fell from -0.57 in September to -1.14 in October. This indicator thus falls to its lowest level for five years. The highest level of this index had been reached in June 2000 at +1.74. Given these figures, the Commission stresses that, if the deterioration of the business climate were to continue next month, this would mean low growth in industrial production over the coming period.
