Brussels, 17/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted a draft Decision on the programme covering the thematic priorities of the future 6th Research Framework Programme (FP6) to allocate EUR 880 million to anticipating the EU's scientific and technological needs. The Commission is proposing to allocate half of it to research to help Community policies such as fisheries, agriculture, public health, sustainable development, energy and transport, as well as research in emerging fields (EUR 100 million). The remaining EUR 440 million will be allocated at a later stage as needs develop. See also yesterday's EUROPE, page 12.
