17/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, production in the construction industry fell by 1.4% in the eurozone and 0.6% in the EU as a whole in the second quarter of 2001 compared with the first quarter. Germany registered the biggest fall (-5.4%) followed by Austria (-3.7%), Finland (-3.3%), Belgium (-1.2%) and France (-0.6%). Other Member States registered positive growth rates: +2.7% in the United Kingdom, +2.2% in Luxembourg, +2.1% in Spain and +0.1% in the Netherlands.
