Agreement on liberalisation of postal services leaves doubts as to their total opening up to competition

Brussels, 16/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - France is ecstatic the Netherlands weeps, the European Commission and Belgian Presidency of the Council breathe a sigh of relief. This was the comment that inspired the ambient atmosphere Monday, at the end of the "Telecommunications" Council, following the political agreement reached over the opening up of the postal services to competition (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.6).
