160 students simulate "Summit of 28"

Brussels, 25/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The AEGEE (the European Students' Forum) is to make a simulation, from 1 to 4 October at the European Parliament in Brussels, of a "Summit of 28" during which 160 students from over thirty European countries will play the role of political decision-makers, members of government, MEPs, members of the European Commission, etc. in an enlarged European Union. "It is a pleasure to see students taking action to raise awareness about enlargement and the intercultural dimension of European policy", said Luis Marinho, Vice-President of the European Parliament. Voichita Radu, who organised the project, hoped this pretend summit would encourage young people to express their views on "reform of the decision making processes in the European Union in the light of enlargement, so as to become actively involved in policy processes".
