Brussels, 25/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - Last Friday, on the occasion of the Extraordinary European Council devoted to the response to be given to terrorism, the Young European Federalists, with the youth organisations of the various European political parties, appealed to the European Union saying: "It is now more than ever time for the European Union to act, become mature and help make this world a safer and secure place". "Europe's young political leaders" therefore "demand from the old leaders" that "they should use the momentum on Friday at the extraordinary European Council to press ahead with common policies on a range of important issues". Thus, they declare: "It is high time that Europeans come together in one Federation (…). We need a true common foreign and security policy with an intervention force, and an enforced Europol and Eurojust. But not in ten or fifteen years or so - we need them now". (See EUROPE of 21 September, p.7, on the subject of the Convention of Young Europeans).
