Mr Gabriels hopes debate on biotechnology scheduled for Tuesday's informal Council meeting will stimulate research

Genk, 17/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The former Belgian Agriculture Minister, Jaak Gabriels, the initiator of the debate on biotechnology scheduled for this Tuesday's informal Agriculture Council, has told EUROPE that he hoped the EU would commit itself to making greater investment in research into genetically modified plants and producing energy from biomass.
