13/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The German Social Democrat MEP Christa Randzio-Plath said on Wednesday that the Euro was finally visible, even if we still cannot touch it. She was speaking after the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee was presented with Euro notes by Wim Duisenberg, President of the European Central Bank (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.8). There are now 110 days to go, said Ms Randzio-Plath, in which to get citizens used to the new currency. She called on Member States' governments to give all 120 households in Europe a calculator to help them check price conversions to ensure that the introduction of the Euro did not lead to price rises.
