Brussels, 13/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The 23rd International Conference of Data Protection Officers is being organised at the Sorbonne in Paris on 24/26 September. The conference, hosted by the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), will be attended by nearly 400 people representing data protection agencies, industry, NGOs, the EU and international organisations like the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Interpol, Europol and the OECD. The main themes include biometrical techniques and recognition of faces; localisation techniques; data protection and privacy; cybercrime and cybersurveillance; Towards a CyberCitizenship; medical files and confidentiality; company changes, service customisation; technology to protect individuals' privacy; electronic democracy; and how to restore confidence in the protection of personal data by companies.
