Brussels, 30/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - On 27 July, the Belgian Presidency issued on behalf of the EU a declaration condemning the recent "LTTE terrorist attack at Colombo airport" and called on those responsible to "renounce all terrorist activity and immediately enter into negotiations with the Sri Lankan government". The EU, which is concerned with the deadlock in the efforts by the "Norwegian facilitator and the peace process", calls on the government and the oppositions to "reassess their priorities, concentrate their efforts on ways of ending the civil war and bring about a lasting settlement which meets the aspirations of all the communities within a united Sri Lanka".
