ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

The Italian groups PIRELLI (tyres and cables) and BENETTON, via its subsidiary EDIZIONE HOLDING, have acquire 22.7% of the capital in the Luxembourg financial company BELL for EUR 7 billion. The latter controls 22.5% of OLIVETTI, itself a majority shareholder with 54.8% of TELECOM ITALIA. The two groups will share BELL with 60% for PIRELLI and 40% for BENETTON. The two partners will bring their own stake in OLIVETTI to the new structure, thus increasing their stakes to 27%.
