Brussels, 27/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission decided not to oppose the establishment of the joint venture Coop Norden established between three cooperative societies: Kooperative Förbundet (Sweden), Faellesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger (Denmark), and Norges Kooperative Landsforening (Norway). The three cooperatives will combine their activities in the field of supplies, and the wholesale and retail trade of current consumer goods. The Commission considers that the operation proposed did not raise any problems from the competitive point of view on national markets as the parties are active in different Member States. In addition, none of the three parties holds a stake of more than 40% on a national market.
