27/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - The British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and his Chancellor for the Exchequer Gordon Brown, have set out a timetable foreseeing a referendum on the entry of Great Britain to the Euro zone "preferably in the autumn of 2002", reported the Financial Times on Friday, adding that spring 2003 represents the second choice for the consultation. This information was immediately denied by a Treasury spokesperson. The Labour government stated that it recommended an accession to the Euro and a "yes" in the referendum, only if the economic conditions are favourable, but the FT, quoting persons close to Mr Blair and Mr Brown, writes that the prospects are "for the moment 60% in favour".
