The American PERKINELMER (research instruments for the pharmaceutical industry) is to take over its compatriot PACKARD BIOSCIENCE (annual turnover of some $200 million with 1,000 employees), specialised in research tools for genomics and proteomics, for $650 million, mainly in shares.
