Disparity in regional unemployment rates remained in 2000 in EU and in European candidate countries

Luxembourg, 20/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, regional unemployment rates within the EU and the Central and Eastern European candidate countries (CEECs) still presented great disparities last year. In the Union, they varied from 1.7% in the region of Aland, in Finland, to 33.1% in the Reunion, French overseas territory. The gap was a little closer in the regions of the CEECs: from 3.4% in the region of Praha, in the Czech Republic, to 31% in Severozapaden, in Bulgaria....
