Brussels, 09/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - On 9 and 10 July in Brussels, the fifth plenary meeting of the "Satellite" action plan, launched in March 1997, should take place gathering representatives from the satellite communications sector, who should discuss with Erkki Liikanen European Commissioner responsible for information society, the efforts deployed by the EU and the European Space Agency (ESA) to establish a coherent European strategy for space. On this occasion, a European satellite operators association will be launched. The sessions of this plenary meeting cover in particular: - the regulation of networks and content; - the global management of rare resources (orbital slots and frequencies), area made increasingly complex due to the trade interests present; - the free movement of satellite terminals and corresponding services.
