European Parliament declares its opposition to Olympic games being held in Beijing

Strasbourg, 06/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - During Thursday's extraordinary session the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Beijing's application to host the 2008 Olympic Games and thereby invites the International Olympic Committee to set out the guidelines including the overall obligation for countries applying to host the games to respect human rights and democratic principles.
