Parliament approves Council's common position on the protection of forests against fires and pollution

Brussels, 15/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament adopted the report by Encarnacio Redondo Jimenez (EPP-ED, Spanish) and approved the Council's common positions relating to two proposals aiming the protect the forests, one against atmospheric pollution and the other against fires. The proposals are aimed at adapting the legal foundations of two regulations dating back to 1986 and 1992 in relation to a ruling by the Court of Justice from 30 April 1997.
