Hungary concludes negotiations on free movement of persons and capital, achieving breakthrough in accession process - Pressure on other candidates

Luxembourg, 12/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - Hungary caused a surprise, on Tuesday in Luxembourg during the membership talks at ministerial level, when Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi announced to the Fifteen that his country agreed to conclude negotiations on three new chapters: the free movement of persons, free movement of capital, and taxation. Hungary has thus become the first of the candidate countries to conclude the chapter on the free movement of persons, which, because of the "workers"...
