Commission and MEPs maintain pressure on pharmaceutical industry for a global strategy in favour of access to medicines in poor countries

Brussels, 06/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is trying to obtain "a global and satisfactory undertaking from the pharmaceutical industry", stated, last week, a spokesperson for the Community executive following a meeting, on 29 May in Brussels, between Commissioners Poul Nielson (development) and Pascal Lamy (trade) and representatives from six laboratories (BMS, GSK, Merck, Roch, Novartis and Pfizer).
