06/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission took a stance in favour of opening negotiations with a view to concluding a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Albania. The prospect of such an agreement will help to pursue and intensify the economic and political reforms indispensable in this country, states the Commission. At this stage, the EU has concluded SAAs with Macedonia (FYROM) and Croatia.
