Brussels, 21/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has launched an Internet site to help use users of the Net to respond to illegal or harmful contents. Called "Awareness Exchange", this instrument is part o the EU action plan to promote safe usage of the Internet. It draws attention to cooperation with industry and implementation of self-regulation. To achieve this, its thrust is twofold: 1) the creation of a European network of telephone lines for information or complaints accessible to all citizens; 2) the development of guidelines for codes of conduct in Europe, ensuring their application. Among other things, the site contains press articles and an interactive forum on the subject. Address: http: //http://www.saferinternet.org.
