Swiss-Canadian aluminium producer ALCAN has announced the sale of its production plant in Bergheim (Germany) to the American chemical products company ALBERMARLE CORPORATION for the sum of $44 million. The transaction comes within the programme for selling $400 million in assets announced by the company last December to meet the European Commission's conditions for clearance of the ALCAN-ALGROUP merger.
