02/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission adopted the decision that transforms into "group of political advisors", the forward looking cell, created in 1989 by Jacques Delors to draw-up long-term analysis documents under the responsibility of the Commission President. The group of political advisors should regroup its works on a more immediate analysis of European policies, dependent on the academic side of its activity. Attached a little less than a year ago to the Commission Secretariat General, experts should recover their autonomy, to answer more directly the requests from the President of the Commission and his cabinet. Placed under the direction of Ricardo Levi, the cell dedicates its works to economic, social, institutional and external relations issues.
