ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) music publishing

The British and German music publishers EMI and BERTELSMANN have abandoned their six month long talks in view of a merger, being unable to overcome problems concerning competition. See EI of 14 November. Furthermore, BERTELSMANN would be interested in the specialist in Internet content sales SCREAMING MEDIA (turnover of USD 22 million in 2000) with which it is in talks.
