The British groups VODAFONE and BT - BRITISH TELECOM are in negotiations over a possible acquisition by VODAFONE of the BT stake in JAPAN TELECOM and its subsidiary J-PHONE. These talks also concern a possible acquisition of the BT stake in the Spanish AIRTEL by buying these BT stakes for an amount that could approach GBP 3 billion, VODAFONE would thus increase its stakes from 25% to 45% in JAPAN TELECOM and from 26% to 46% in J-PHONE.
