ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) steel

The Japanese steel firms KSC - KAWASAKI STEEL and NKK have announced the merger of their activities by April 2003 so as to become Japan's number two in the sector. Initially, a holding company will be created by October 2002 to combine the activities of the two firms. The final stage provides for complete integration under the holding company of the two firms. Their annual production will amount to 25 million tonnes in Japan.
