ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

A consortium lead by Tony O'Reilly, an Irish media magnate, and also including the American funds PROVIDENCE EQUITY PARTNERS, WARBURG PINCUS and GOLDMAN SACHS confirmed that it was preparing an offer for the land line telephone activities of the Irish operator EIRCOM. It could reach EUR 2.7 billion or 300 million more than what is offered by Denis O'Brien, another financier.
