The British group HILTON (pre tax profits of GBP 276.7 million in 2000) made a friendly offer for the group SCANDIC HOTELS AB (133 hotels in Scandinavia and 21 establishments elsewhere in Europe), the main Scandinavian hotel operator. This offer, in shares and cash, values SCANDIC HOTELS at around SEK 8.9 billion.
