11/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - During its special summit in Sofia, the European Popular Party adopted, in the presence of the Macedonian president Trajkovski, a declaration on the situation in Macedonia in which it condemns the attempts by "extremist groups to destabilise the region". The summit, which was attended notably by the Spanish and Austrian heads of government, Mr Aznar and Mr Schüssel, also called for rapid EU enlargement to the East.
