French agrifood company ROQUETTE FRERES (turnover of EUR 1.67 billion in 2000, workforce of 4,500) has said that it will be acquiring for an undisclosed sum the "Sorbitol" arm of the Korean LG company, world leader in this field, in order to get a foothold in China and Korea. The sorbitol wing of LG has a turnover of around USD 30 million and employs some 150 members of staff.
