ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

German mobile phone operator MOBILCOM (28.5% of whose capital is controlled by FRANCE TELECOM) is planning to acquire the German mobile telephone services company HUTCHISON TELECOM GMBH, subsidiary of ORANGE (owned by FRANCE TELECOM). This operation will transfer HUTCHISON's 750,000 subscribers to MOBILCOM, bringing the latter's total mobile phone subscribers to 5.25 million.
