- Romania: Foreign investment in Romania totalled USD 193 million in January and February 2001, signalled the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce. Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase explained that his government was aiming to attract USD 1.8 billion in foreign capital each year. In order to meet this target, Bucharest is proposing to make the legal system more robust and raise the country's credibility overseas. Direct foreign investment in Romania since 1990 only amounts to USD 5 billion.
