11/04/2001 (Agence Europe)- During the meeting between the Greek minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Papandreou and his Turkish counterpart Mr Cem, on April 6 in Ankara, Greece and Turkey announced that they had reached an agreement on clearing mines on their shared border, and that they would simultaneously begin steps to join the Ottawa Convention on banning antipersonnel mines. It is "a very important measure of confidence between the two countries", Mr Cem told the press.
